The sale marks a major milestone for both Hi-Noon and Jacksons. Hi-Noon, which has been a key player in the Montana market for decades, is now passing the baton to Jacksons Energy and Jacksons Food Stores. These companies own, operate, and supply stores across ten western states, leveraging the former's transportation assets to serve customers and the latter's locations with fuel.
Dirk Cooper, who joined Hi-Noon in 2003 as CFO and played a crucial role in restructuring the company, made the decision to sell. After acquiring Hi-Noon from its founder, William J. Nooney in 2015, Dirk focused on improving operations and establishing it as the leading provider of branded fuels in the greater Missoula area. This deal will further enhance Jacksons' retail network, which already spans over 300 locations across eight states, including Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, California, and Utah.
The acquisition by Jacksons is likely to have a significant impact on the Montana and western U.S. fuel market. With the addition of Hi-Noon's assets, Jacksons will strengthen its position and expand its reach. This could lead to increased competition and potentially better service and pricing for consumers in the region.
Hi-Noon's legacy as a trusted distributor of branded motor fuels will live on through Jacksons. The combined entity will bring together the expertise and resources of both companies, creating new opportunities for growth and innovation in the fuel retail and wholesale sectors.
